ok, less I forget here are the highlights of my week, popularly known as 365 Awesome Moments:

#7 – January 7, 2012
Since I have given up my Saturday rests since the start of 2nd semester, I normally spend the afternoons making up for the loss sleep or time with Sofi. When I came home today Sofi was out with Papa, and I had 1 few hours of ME time. Never mind if that ME time was spent continuing an unfinished homework.

The fruits of our birthday prep were laid out, and the sweetest of them all is seeing the birthday celebrant happy! And to make the happy day, happier Jaims came home with a surprise announcement from the office. Major restructure lead to another gift from heaven.

Yesterday was quite tiring, and waking up at 5AM was such a chore. In fact, my fingers were nice enough to dismiss my alarm :/ I left home at 6:45, and I was still lucky to get a bus. Taxi is not option anymore. And oooh, I had a meeting and they served free lunch.

now, this part I forgot to log there goes my 365…

365 Awesome Moment #6

I knew it! Awesome Moment #6 was sure to come. that thing I was waitin’ for yesterday landed on my hand today at 10am the line was long but i managed to be the first to receive God’s early mornin’ gift.

To make things a lot better, I got a Fullybooked 2012 planner. The planner was originally addressed to me but since we do not want to encourage gift giving among suppliers and students, all gifts we received are turnover to the administration office. The surrendered gifts are then raffled off to the respective units. This gives the non-receivers equal chance of being blessed. Most of the time you don’t get what you surrender, and a lot of times you end up not getting anything.

What makes Christmas raffle really fun is not the item per se, but that moment when you all pray your hearts out to get the major prize. I have little luck over these things but today I got lucky. Since we already had our Christmas raffle, the admin didn’t want to wait til next December to raffle it off, duh! So the admin said we can raffle it to our department. Fullybooked sent us 5 but the admin got one which she will raffle to the other members of the unit also. I was lucky enough to get one, and two other intended recipients got also. Lucky Day!

Normally, I don’t get to eat merienda in the afternoon, but my boss made malunggay pesto pasta. The last time I ate one, she overdid the malunggay but now everything was right. I think I had 3 servings of it while we talked about life in general Fun fun day!

Luck do really come in three’s.

that small smile you efffortlessly gave despite the pain you’re feeling

After being giddy the rest of the afternoon last Tuesday, I had another bout with migraine and hyperacidity (I think it’s called ULCER by this time). I was dressed for work yet I’ve been in and out of the rest room to vomit my intestines out. It was so worse this time that I spent the rest of the day sleeping and consuming several Maalox and Biogesic. Mama said she checked on me and I was so asleep I didn’t notice.

Anyway, I overheard Sofi before leaving that she’d rather not attend school because I might need her. And when she got home, the first thing she asked was if the cook took care of me while she was out. Aaaawww…I felt loved

Awesome Moment #3

First day of work after a VERY LONG vacation is the worst partsof the year. Trying to get back to your old sleeping habits and waking up at 5AM after the long holiday spiel is the worst torture one can do to self. I had a hard time sleeping the night before that I had to set 3 alarm period just in case I accidentally snooze it. Well I was able to wake up in time for work, and to add the torture we’re going to have a workshop. Workshop???

But all the waking up trauma was rewarded before noon when we received a New Year’s gift through our company mail. Our school director is a fan of surprises and really, however he delivers the message, I can’t help but still be surprised. I was talking to a friend about our financial concerns before being able to read the e-mail. And it was as if God heard our woes that same instant and rewards us with an uncontrollable smile.

It was a Happy New Year after all.

Awesome Moment #2

While most companies (like Daddy’s) started their year today, the big boss was nice enough to give us a time to do little errands or make last minute “family bonding time.” Since daddy had to go to work early today, I promised him last night that I’m going to prepare his brekky this time. He laughed as I had a lot of days to do this but I always end up waking up late. This morning, I managed to wake up Sofi, too. While, I prepare our coffees and Milo, I glanced at them sitting beside each other blankly staring at the wall *Kyooot!* I know they’re both sleepy but are trying to make most of the time left.

Dad bought the salad he was fantasizing a few months back at the grocery after Church. To make his meal complete, I packed him Christmas ham slices and 5 “Pinoy Tasty” slices. I forgot about the cheese but I hoped it’s ok with him. I inserted a short note inside his lunch box

After he left, Sofi and I spent time together. She was getting cranky by 11.30 so I brought her back to the room so she can catch up some sleep. Right now, Sofi and I are having movie time while blogging.

Sorry Papa Jesus that we were not able to go to church during your birthday but I have a good news for you…we made it on the first day of the year

Since we spent New Year with my hubby’s family, we were able to get home at past 2AM already. Naturally our bodies responded by waking up at almost 12 noon. The original plan was to hear a New Year’s eve mass but we didn’t know that the Church near their place was closed. We can’t make it in time for the noon mass either so we said we’ll hear mass at a later time. During the afternoon, when we had our late lunch around 5:30, mama insisted that I get the clothes from the sampayan. Since I was in a hurry I rushed folding. We thought mass was at 7 but we learned from the schedule posted outside the Church that the last mass was at 6:30. We were late but at least we made it

how to wean?

For Sofia, weaning came very late. I was told by many that kids should be weaned out of bottle-feeding as soon as they turn 1. Her pedia said we should try at 2, but luck wasn’t on our side. She would throw tantrums at night when she doesn’t get her supply. We’ve resorted to lowering her oz intake, making her milk too diluted and even controlling the number of bottles left in the room. But because she gets to stay in the room all by herself, she ends up putting extra scoop in her (matalino!). When she turned 4 I tried coaxing her that since she’s big already she should stop drinking milk from the bottle but she would contest. A few months before Christmas, I told her “o pagChristmas na, no more mimi bottle na ah“. I would sometimes hear her telling her lola and tito that she would start drinking milk in the glass when it’s Christmas. I gave her time after.

One night, when we went to the mall, I intentionally left the bottles in mama’s house. She hasn’t drink milk for the past two nights, and maybe tricking her one more night won’t hurt. When we came back, she was looking for milk and I told her we don’t have milk bottles. Then I remember bringing home a mineral water bottle from the mall. I told her, I’ll just make milk in it. She agreed, and she was able to finish the serving. The following night I told her I don’t have bottles again, so she agreed that I make it in her school jug. The next milk nights, she agreed to have them in the glass. I did this every night, even leaving a glass with spoon and water so she can make her own when she gets back from school. We’re now on our 4th week (we started sometime November) and she seldom drinks milk now. Though, for me it is an achievement I still prefer she continue drinking milk even in glass. Sometimes she would even refuse to eat rice. I would have to deal with that sometime…and thumb-sucking. Bye-bye botes!
